The Unicorn Garden Embroidery Workshop
In this 6-week beginner workshop, you will create your own unicorn tapestry. Inspired by medieval surface embroidery traditions, this course emphasizes stitch texture, directional movement, and visual storytelling while encouraging students to develop confidence in their own stitching practice.

About the event
Week 1 — Foundations & Frame Preparation Duration: 2.5 hours
Students will:
· understand the structure of the project
· prepare their embroidery ground properly
· assemble and tension their scroll frame
· construct a custom leather thimble
begin understanding embroidery ergonomics
Week 2 — Color Mapping & Beginning Stitch Structure Duration: 2.5 hours
Students will:
· establish color strategy
· optionally watercolor-map their design
· begin foundational stitching techniques
Week 3 — Directional Texture & Structural Filling Duration: 2.5 hours
Students will:
· understand directional fill
· begin Bayeux structure
· work with stitch flow
Week 4 — Organic Texture & Dimensional Stitching Duration: 2.5 hours
Goals/ Students will:
· create dimensional surfaces
· learn texture variation
· introduce botanical complexity
Week 5 — Shading, Contour & Visual Cohesion Duration: 2.5 hours
Goals/Students refine:
· shading transitions
· contour emphasis
· stitch hierarchy
Week 6 — Finishing & Surface Resolution Duration: 2.5 hours
Goals/ Students will:
· refine and finish
· resolve transitions
· understand finishing considerations
OVERALL Recommended Homework Expectation
· 4–6 hours of stitching between classes (Especially after Class 3 onward)
